"Every one of you listening to my voice, tell the world, tell this to everybody wherever they are. Watch the skies. Everywhere. Keep looking. Keep watching the skies!"
from The Thing from Another World - 1951

This is the exterior of a gift shop near the eastern terminus of Nevada"s Extraterrestrial Highway. I have been by here several times over the years, but it was closed everytime I was there. I love the exterior design. Maybe next time they'll be open...

Not a road I have driven before. I had to look it up to see where this was to be honest. Looks like an interesting destination.

Is the drive more interesting than US 6 or US 50? I have been across the state on both of those and they are seriously boring drives.

There are many photo worthy places along the ET highway, as well as short side visits to ghost towns and old mining areas. On the other hand, a friend of mine told me it was a boring drive for him. Some people don't belong in the desert. If you avoid doing the drive mid-day when the light is harsh, you will see some amazing pristine desert scenery.

I grew up in Phoenix and then spent the next 30 years living in the Great Basin. I was getting tired of desert living when my wife and I first visited the PNW and decided to move up here. I like to occasionally see the desert but only for short duration visits.

I have always lived in non desert areas, but love to explore them whoever possible. When friends visit us here, they always mention how green it is here compared to where they live. Yeah, I like living in the PNW and visiting the desert SW on journeys. Many times as I'm returning from a totally dry two week desert trip, I reach Oregon and soon see the rain before I reach home. It renew me.
