It's not Snow!

It looks like snow to me, but it's not, it's salt! Perhaps it's because I am in Colorado as I am editing this, that it feels like snow. This is from Badwater Basin in Death Valley a few months ago. With 2023 almost over, I am cramming in a bunch of images to process that I had skipped over while traveling.

While waiting for sunset, I had perhaps 30 minutes of these sunrays poking through. It was an ever changing sight, and one that was cool to see, though not the easiest to capture and process.

So are the white areas where the older salt deposits that didn't get inundated? Really nice rays behind.

The water was receeding, that whole are was under water just a few weeks earlier from what I could tell. So that's what's left as the water receeded.
