Its Been a Weird Summer

Usual summers in the Pacific NW are almost devoid of clouds and feature relatively moderate temperatures. On the other hand I don't think I have ever shot as many sunsets with clouds as I have seen this year including one last night with the shot you see below. To top it off it was hotter (85ºF) while I was out shooting it than our usual daytime highs in late July. Definitely different for us at least but if Mother Nature keeps dishing these color shows up I will keep shooting them. A small amount of wildfire smoke added a bit of color to last night's show.

This an almost 180º view of the western horizon with a 4 panel panorama shot at 24mm. Best viewed full size on a big monitor.

Love the way the clouds are arching over the middle like that. What a cool shape!
Thanks Jim - I have seen that arching shape a couple of times this past month. Not sure what atmospheric conditions are responsible for that but it does make a nice resulting panorama. I have been making a point of including both ends of the arch when grabbing the shots for the stitch.

Very nice clouds for this view. It’s been in 90s the past couple of days and the next two days are similar.

It was just plain skies here yesterday.

Thanks Jameel - we had a couple of 100º days here with yesterday "only" reaching 97º. I am definitely ready for fall at this point. I am really glad I selected reflective roof shingles when I had our roof replaced in March. That dropped our inside temps by at least 5-10 degrees on the hottest days.
