Went to Valley of Fire in Southern Nevada early Saturday morning with my friend Darcy Grizzle to catch some sunrise shots. This is one of the images I captured. Any CC is welcome.
Thank you!A winding road with neat scenery is always nice since the road offers such a nice leading line for the viewers eyes to follow. In this case you have some really nice light for this part of VoF as well. Nicely done.
Thank you! Darcy and I had a blast, as usual lol. I primarily use Lightroom for editing. I am (very) slowly learning Photoshop so any guidance you or anyone else can give me on pulling that detail would be greatly appreciated.Hi Teresa,
It's awesome to have you here! And it sounds like you and Darcy had a really great trip out to VoF.
I like your take here, shooting that road as it snakes like a ribbon between the hills is something I highly enjoyed in VoF. Good job here with this, if you were able to recover a little more detail from the clouds that would be the only thing you could do to improve this fine image.
Thanks!Great first post, and beautiful scene.
As far as the highlight detail goes it actually won't matter too much between LR or Photoshop. The main key is when you are actually taking the photo. Just make sure that you are not blowing highlights when you shoot, the best way to do that is just watch your histogram in your camera. And also to have the blownout Highlight Blinkies turn on.Thank you! Darcy and I had a blast, as usual lol. I primarily use Lightroom for editing. Thank you and yes, that's me (at least she caught my good side!)Welcome to FW!
Was it you back in Darcy's frame earlier? lol
Love the flow here, i am with Jim about those highlights...
Cheers!
Thank you!Welcome here, Teresa!
Always love a good road shot, and when there's lovely landscape to go with it it's even better. Nicely seen and done.
Thanks for the input, Martin. Hopefully you'll get another chance to get out there - there is definitely a lot to see!Nice road shot, Teresa. I like the original with its less contrasty look the best. I never made it to here, though it was on a recent itinerary (due to pranging the rental![]()
and having to go away from Phoenix rather than LV). Looks as if we missed out on a nice area!
