Inside a Canyon

I haven't see many images from inside of Bryce Canyon on here to date so I thought it might be time to rectify that and add a couple into the mix. This pair of images came from the Queen's Garden trail.

The first one shows the scene as you start descending into the canyons:

The second one is from the area called The Queens Garden. There is a rock formation just off to the east of the scene here that is supposed to resemble Queen Victoria and she is overlooking the spires seen here.

C&C always welcome.

Hey Alan,

These are nice. It's great seeing an "inside" view of the canyon. I have some from inside I will have to dig out at some point.

For those who haven't hiked down into the canyon, they need to. It's quite a fun time to explore down there.

Great shots, Alan. I might prefer the first one cropped tighter to get rid of the sky which isn't really interesting here.
Those rocks really look like they are lighted from the inside.
I love Bryce, but have only been there once. I had a snow thunderstorm after which the rocks had snow toppings. Maybe I'll post some of those images later here.

The lighting on the rocks in the first image are the main reason I took that shot since reflected light is what makes Bryce unique to shoot. The bad part of shooting Bryce is that it is basically an amphitheater that lacks a really compelling view to the east. I often try to frame my shots to either face northeast (better backdrop) or not view the valley behind at all if I can help it. I will look at some possible alternative crops for this.

You're right there. That's probably why most of my shots there were with the tele lens.

I have seen only pictures of this place! I love all the contrast.

Beautiful scenes both, Alan. The light is a bit more appealing in the 1st, but they're both lovely captures of the wonderful terrain there.
