I made 2 trips in late winter to Iceland. I wrote two blog posts with images and location info, one from 2016 and the second one from 2019 that you will find useful. Comments & questions welcomed.

By the way, I spent 80-100 hrs on Google Maps street view to select key spots to photograph in western and southern Iceland. Didn't drive north. I then exported the kmz file to Dropbox and imported the POIs in the POI Viewer app on my iphone and then navigated from spot to spot. If you are interested, the POIs can be found here. Feel free to copy. The file also has POIs for Lofoten Islands and Tromso in Arctic Norway.

Heard tourism has subsided and it is cheaper. I got terrific deals in Feb 2016 and March 2019. Summers are super expensive.
