IC 5070

[Gramps Potter]

So , do you see the Pelican ? Hope so ! This is IC 5070, aka, the Pelican Nebula. I was very surprised to see just how faint this is. I got about 1.5 hours with each filter and it probably needs twice that, ouch ! This is close to the North America Nebula in Cygnus the Swan.

This is a tricolor pic with red=hydrogen, sulfur=green, and oxygen =blue.

I’m all caught up on processing, so I’m hoping for some clear nights soon!

Very cool - I can see the pelican as well. This doesn't look all that faint to me but then again I am looking at the results of your integration work and not the original captures you were working with....

I have seen the Pelican listed and had seen that it was by the North America Nebula, but I haven't gone after it yet that I recall. I see it, and think about it. But my gear isn't quite up to pulling that one off yet. So, it's great to see it from you! I can add this to my dream list for one day.

Thanks Jim ! It took several runs at the data before I could get something I was happy with. I think I used every process I know at least once, sometimes twice !

Great result - I like the definition you have in the Herbig-Haro object ((HH 555) in this, that is very cool to see. Really pleasing color palette too that HSO mix has worked well.
