Hidden Arch

Lovely image of this arch. I've been here maybe half a dozen times but strangely have never seen anyone on it, let alone jumping off it. Maybe because I tend not to go there during summer months.

There were 2 groups jumping last night, about 5 guys total. First they were jumping off the left side and then later right in the center of the arch. Any other night and I would have tried getting shots of them jumping, but with Bodhi Smith leading our group of 15 photographers we were pretty intent on learning all we could from him.

Nice light - the reflection down in front is a good visual lead in for the arch. How high is that arch? I can't derive any sense of scale from the elements in the image.

I'm not good at guestimating these things, but I'd say that the inside of the arch is roughly around 20' or so? Here's a quick shot that shows three of the jumpers sitting on the top left of the rock.

Hey John,

Nice work here. That's a favorite spot of mine, there is a lot to shoot in that area. The only thing is to pay attention to the tide levels as I literally almost had to swim out of there one time... :)

Great shot and processing John. I didn't even know there's an arch at CDM besides "arch rock" out off of the shore. I'll have to look for it next time.

lol...last year, I nearly got locked into the southern side near the point that goes around to the south. I was not paying attention, and I had to go nearly knee deep in some water on some sketchy rocks to get back. Ironically, an hour before I left that day, a guy was telling me how he got trapped on that southern side, and he had to go walk up a cliff stairway and ask the residence if he could walk through.

Thank you guys.

This is definitely a place to watch out for the tides, I can see how it would be real easy to get caught out there and not be able to get back. Tide was about -1' at sunset last night, made for easy (well, easier) trek into the place but didn't leave much water on the rocks. I'll be going back for sure, it's one of those places that's going to look different every visit. Just wish there had been some broken clouds last night.
