I'm jealous - you just scored more good heron shots in one place than I have managed to do to date. The first two are classic NW coastline shots and to have them in profile is a nice touch. I love the tree pose in #3 but the color version at the end keeps me looking the longest.

Thanks guys, I wondered if it would be worth it carrying the 100-400, and it sure was just for that 3rd shot (but also for the bears).
One thing I've noticed on this site is that many shots (mine and others) seem softer than the web versions do on my computer. Is there compression applied when we upload? Part of what I love about that 3rd shot is the sharpness on the bird is perfect - you can make out lots of detail in the feathers, but it doesn't show here.

Very nice set, I like them all, but the first has a classic look to it.

Nice set, Jim. The images here are relatively small which makes it difficult to see the detail except on very close images.
