Grizzly - Kananaskis

_C4A6792.jpg
Last week I was out trying for landscape and the smoke was too thick to get good picture so I went looking for grizzly because my friends were visiting from texas.

Here is my best shot of the grizzly that posed for me.

It is hard to choose whether this is a good landscape or wildlife shot - but here it is.

Welcome to the board Scott! I think that's a great looking bear. My first thought was that it might be worth trying to darken the foliage in the foreground a little and lighten the dark area in the back left, but as I look at it I wonder if that would just make things too flat. Either way it's a great bear (did I say that already?)

Hey Scott,

This looks even better then on the iPhone! What a really cool shot of the grizzly you got here. It's a bit of a scary shot cause it looks like he is only about 10 feet away and about to pounce on you!

Excellent shot, Scott. I haven't seen a grizzly in all the many years I've been visiting the Rockies up there. Fantastic view of the bear in its habitat! Definitely a wildlife shot for me! :)

Thanks Kyle - I am still debating darker background or lighter - my preference is darker to emphasize the bear. I willl play with this again. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. And welcome back! Scott

He was a considerable distance from me and he is a great bear. He crossed the road to avoid a family hiking toward him - embarrassing me because I told them he was coming and the road was safer and then he crossed the road in front of them. I tried. Much appreciated. Scott

  1. Martín el Escocés: There is a grizzly bear behind every bush. Call me the next time you visit. :) Glad you ike the bear in its habitat. Much appreciated. Scott

  2. Ben Egbert: 800mm is too big a lens for this kind of activity. I have 200-400/560 and 600 and usually 200-400 is best. Glad you like his face. Much appreciated. Scott

I'd suggest you get the strongest underwear possible to support your....eh...nvmd. :D

I'd probably die 10 seconds after that shot due to turning and running and then being mauled.
