There's always been a touch of magic surrounding the "blue moon."
Contrary to its name, the term doesn't refer to the moon turning a shade of blue. Instead, it's the whimsical phrase we use when two full moons grace our skies in a single month.
Such a captivating event only happens every two to three years. Tonight, in San Jose, I witnessed a mesmerizing sight: the moon, at 98% fullness, rising majestically behind the Lick Observatory in Santa Clara.
And can you believe our good fortune? Owing to this year's serene fire season (fingers firmly crossed it remains so), the moonlight was particularly radiant.
Coupled with the light purple hue of the evening sky, it was truly an evening to remember!
