Giant Sequoias in Virginal Snow

With the Sierra storm promising to clear before sunrise today, we left at 12:30 to arrive predawn at Grant Grove. We snowshoed around and found a couple feet of pristine snow frozen to the branches. We left before the sun melted the snow off the trees. More to come after I sleep.

Thanks for the comments! I decided to remove the exposed root since it was a distraction.

Douglas: It was hard to judge well, but it seemed like two feet of powder. The water content was pretty low (it was about 10 degrees F), so even with snowshoes we were sinking 6 inches in some areas.
