Georgetown Loop Railroad

Georgetown Loop Railroad is in Colorado. A left over from the mining days. I happened to just be in the right place at the right time as I was driving on I-70 passing through the Rockies. These shots are not the greatest, I was driving on the freeway, saw the smoke from the engine rising into the air, saw a place I could pullover (A rest area under construction), grabbed the Sony A6400 that I always keep ready and started to shoot. I had maybe 2 mins from beginning to end as it was peek-a-booing through the forest there.

#2 - Heading into the curve. The OOF branches aren't ideal but I couldn't avoid them. I liked that open view of the engine there. This is also pretty severely cropped.

So this is not connected with the Denver and Rio Grande RR that goes to Silverton?

Nice shots and good catch and being prepared,

Fun set - #2 looks like a candidate for some pixel peeping if we aren't already there.
Ha ha, #2 has already been pretty severely cropped. So while I can zoom in tighter and see the Engineer it's losing a lot of sharpness at that point.

Thanks Ben. Nope this is it's own loop. This area is on the East side of the Rockies as you are heading down into Denver. The Silverton-Durango Train is in SW Colorado. The Silverton-Durango train is hidden back in the mountains for the majority of it's run, but I have also followed it on the 550 starting in Silverton and shooting that one as it leaves the station, then catching it 30 miles or so to the south as it first comes back out of the mountains and again as it comes into Durango. It's kind of fun to race to a train... :)
