Gap Lake

Something a little chilly for a warm summer day...

I took this in January in Canmore, Canada. I found some open water in Gap Lake and waited for the light to heat the peaks across the valley. Fortunately the breeze died down and some clouds moved in to frame the scene at just the right time.

Any thoughts are always welcome!

Looks cold <grabbing fleece> but I do like the composition and the light. I might be tempted to bring out a few more details in the shadow areas in the focal point area just below the sunlit peaks.

A very nice one Kyle. I have been trying to get up into that area for the last couple of years and something keeps coming up and preventing me. I like that golden light in here on the clouds and the side lighting on the peaks. It's also nice to see that reflection. Even if it's not a mirror reflection it adds a lot to the image.

I love the colors and the reflection on the water. Awesome.
Thank you!

Thanks Alan, I'll play around with that.

As much as I like mirror reflections, I've started to feel like a few ripples add something. Definitely worth the effort to get up there, even if it was -20° that morning!

Fantastic! Images like the ones you've been posting make me want to spend money to do some travel photography. Not sure that's a good thing. :p
