Free Ladder

While I was flying my drone for some shots of the topography around the old Stagecoach Road I spotted a footbridge across the Siuslaw River. There was an old building that might have been a home on the far bank of the river but the forest was mostly hiding a view of it.

From the air at 24mm it appeared that this structure might not be in the best condition:

A bit hard to see on the drone controller screen but it looked like a ladder towards the distant shore so I switched to 70mm lens for a closer look:

I decided to drop down and check this out a bit closer and it seems this bridge might have been out of use for a while:

Even better was the part of the bridge where the ladder awaits the venturesome soul who might need one:

The view from the ground along the river wasn't nearly as interesting:

Wow! That's such a cool bridge. How interesting. For as bad as that bridge looks with that ladder there, I would say some people are actively going on across? Or maybe they made it across but that section crumbled under them, and when they were exploring the old house they found that ladder and brought it to the bridge so they could get across more safely?

Interesting possiblities.

I am glad you shot this from multiple angles.

Thanks Jim - I am guessing no one has been across it for quite a few years now. There are a couple of sections with no planks left at all if you look towards the bottom of the first image at full size.

Interesting find. Doesn't look like this bridge is worth taking a chance on - ladder or otherwise. Given the rust spots on the ladder, its been there a while.

Thanks Jameel - I think you would need to have some seriously loose screws to go walk out on that bridge for any reason at all. The ladder is part of an extension ladder that's missing the other piece to top it off. Best appreciated from the air was my thinking :)
