Floating away

A couple of days ago I headed out to Mt Baker area - the weather was warm and there were some clouds. I was hoping to catch a nice sunrise, hike to some of the lakes there. The road to Artist Point is still closed (checked on google maps and it showed it was open). So no hikes and view of Baker. It is also a place I was hoping to fly the Mavic 3 Pro (which is allowed there). By sundown almost all clouds had dissipated and had a bare sky. Got some waterfall shots on the way and some shots from Picture Lake.

First is a close image of some ice still in the lake, floating by itself. This piece of ice and Mt Shuksan taken with the drone for scale and context. The last one is also a drone shot looking down at it.

Interesting to see the ice from these perspectives. I do like the second image with the "iceberg" floating on the lake with Shuksan in the background. The overhead shot is kinda neat too.

The ice floating is really cool! #2 is really great, but I also like #3.

Too bad that road was closed.

When you are at Artist Point, what direction is Mt Baker? I am thinking of the night sky there.

Thanks Jim. The road should open around end of June.

Mt Baker is SW and Mt Shuksan is SE from Artist Point. For night sky and MW, Mt Shuksan offers a better view from Picture Lake view point. The image below was taken end of June.

Interesting perspectives. My favorite is number 2. The shape of the ice and the shape of the mountain . . . . nice find.

some great photos. love the 2nd and 4th. the 3rd one of the drone shot looking down is interesting cause it's hard to tell how big the ice is.
