This will be a series of photographs I took at Flight 93 Memorials, both out in Union City, CA & at the National memorial in Shanksville, PA
This 1st one is the late afternoon before a dedication ceremony
This memorial is located in Union City, CA and was the vision of Michael Emerson, a former marine.
His motivation was that several of the passengers were returning home & others out visiting family
It was constructed on donated land, built with donated materials & local union labor.
There are 40 rose colored stones, each with a name of one of the heroes.
The polished panel on each is for the viewer's "reflections"
This next one was taken the evening before
The back story here is I was approached by journalist from the Weekly Standard, Jonathan Last.
He asked me if they could contact me for an article in an upcoming issue.
This was one of three images and was selected for an "across the fold" layout.
