First attempt at IR

Hey Joe,

These look pretty good with IR doing what IR is supposed to do. Sometimes IR shots just look like B&W shots, but here it does look like IR.

I like how with the IR the composition has a very alien twisted feel. #3 is probably my favorite, though #2 is pretty nice also.

Are you using an IR filter on your camera?

thank you yes , using the filter. it's definetley tricky getting focus and exposure that way. Not to mention it becomes a long exposure also.

IR is so different, but it is great looking.
I',m always atracted to different, so I can't tell if I like it yet or just because it is different .:D

Glad you're checking out IR, Joe!

A lot of how you process IR comes down to personal preference, so you'll have to take feedback with a grain of salt.

I generally prefer max contrast and will push my black and white points to their edges.

I think 3 does the best of this and also has the most pleasing comp.

I've never shot IR with a filter, but it sounds extremely cumbersome! I would have to imagine that you're almost always mounted on a tripod as to not muck with focus after you have to screw on the filter.

Sidenote, I've got a mint condition Canon T6 that has been converted over to IR by Kolari Vision in the 665nm cutoff that I'm going to be selling shortly. I decided that I love IR so much that I bought a used 5D2 and had it converted recently. It should be arriving early next week. PM me if you're interested!

oh you are right there CUMBERSOME ! I cheated with focus using infininty on these . getting comp then screwing on the filter messed up a few shots on me by not realizing I hit the focus ring. Also exposure is hit and miss!

Hi Joe, I would certainly have Loved to have had starting results like these.

Very Nicely Done , especially with the longer exposure time with minimal blurring which
is a feat in itself.

Look forward to seeing more of your images.

Take Care,

Craig
