Feeling the Blues

These are a couple of images from the Blue Basin trail in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. A bit more of a greenish blue than a pure color but close enough. I would have loved a lot more clouds but I haven't figured out how to arrange for better coverage on that count yet.

I did not have time to get up there on my one brief visit to this area. We were vary late arriving because of a 150 mile deture when a bridge was out on the McKenzie pass. Thanks for showing this. If I lived closer, I would make a large effort.

They have a really nice museum as well for the paleontological collections

Interesting place and agree with Barry that it reminds one of Death Valley esp. the 20 mule Canyon.

The natural color contrasts between the blue-green and the orange-y colors of the grasses and soil work very well together.
