@Bob Israel posted an excellent limited DOF image of a leaf. But what is funny, is we must have had the same thought while being a thousand miles apart. I had the exact same thought a few days ago when I was trying out a new lens I had gotten for Astro, but thought I would play around with it for limited DOF, and a leaf was my subject. The lens is a Samyang 35mm f1.4 that Amazon had on sale for almost half off during it's Prime Day sale.
Now Bob's image has a much better ground layer that the leaf is lying on, but I did the best I could. I shot this at f1.4, and I can tell you it's hard to handhold a camera at f1.4 that is manual focus.
Anyway, this is what I got. I tried it in B&W but felt the leaf blended in too much, the color helps separate it from the sidewalk.
