Fall Colors at McGee Creek

We were in the Eastern Sierras in the second week of October, 2017. Some of the upper elevations had already lost the colors but the lower elevations were at their peak.

Here is McGee Creek an hour or so after sunrise. The sun peeks over a mountain and for a few minutes the water turns golden. I was lucky to be there.

I hope you enjoy.

Thats a really nice reflected color cast on the water. It almost looks like you have to shoot this while in the water with this comp.

Hi Maji,

The shutter speed with the water motion is a perfect complement to the light show.

Hey Maji, that's pretty cool from there. I know I love it when the water turns gold. Was it very crowded at sunrise?

Thank you Jim. We encountered a photo workshop during our visit to McGee Creek. That created a little competition for the locations but not that bad. When were preparing to leave the location around 9am, we saw a lot of people driving in.

I like it a lot, but the cut off rock at the bottom center and bottom right, keeps me from really enjoying, pulling the attention away, easy fix though.

Cheers.
