Early reports indicate color in the Eastern Sierra is late this year but starting to come in nicely at the higher elevations. With the color being late it looks like I may get to see areas that are often well past peak when I usually go. It also means that areas that are usually peaking nicely when I go may still be lacking some color. Given all that, I decided to extend my stay.
I'll be staying in June Lake Oct 6-10, traveling around in search of color. I'll be leaving Thursday morning the 10th and heading up to Plumas County. Don't have a room yet, but planning to stay the night in Quincy. Will spend most of Friday the 11th in Plumas County then head back south on 395 to Lee Vining where I will spend Friday night at Murphy's. Will spend Saturday the 12th chasing color somewhere before leaving that night for Lone Pine. Will probably book a room at the Dow Villa but not yet resolved. Head home Sunday.
If anybody will be in any of those areas, let me know if you want to meet up.
