Eclipse Composite

I went down to the Smokey Mountains to shoot the Eclipse. It was my first attempt. At the last minute I scratched the idea of shooting a second camera at wide angle, and focused on the sequence. Here's the composite.

Where did you shoot from, I was at Morton Overlook.

I got into a long debate with someone about the way these composites are shown...I like how you have done it, with the first way we saw the eclipse start on the left side, reading it like a story...like we do in the western world, left to right...the opposition got really mad at me for that, and made a big scene about it...all that to say I like the way you have shown it.

I might try to feather the edges on the top 3 images and the totality image, they have fairly hard edges that show up for me.

Travis: Thank you for the comment and the suggestion. I had worked on some of the hard edges in the layers, but I see I missed some and will work on that.

I was in the Franklin area camping. I initially had the plan of camping up near Wayan's Bald, but I was afraid the road would get closed, and if i committed to that area and clouds came in, I had no options. So I stayed at the campground and plotted some travel options in case the weather changed. It turned out great for me, as I wound up getting permission to shoot at a small woodworking property on the opposite side of the County Airport, with good open space, and -- of all things, where the owner gave permission to the Asheville Astronomical Society to shoot. So I met some fine folks as well. Quite the experience.

As much as I wanted to get some scenery in the eclipse, I'm glad i limited my focus in my first attempt.

Hey, in 2024, the eclipse will be coming over the Adirondacks, where I know all the good spots. So I hope to let any members know of some options when the time comes.

Perfect execution. I'm am man of symmetry, and this is on point.

Something silly that comes to mind....put Shang Tsung's face in the totality shot with "Totality" as a caption. :p Ok...perhaps nobody will understand the reference.

Bart, very nice sequence. I have yet to post mine form Oregon. You've inspired me to do it!
I might take you up on the 2024 idea. Hey, I'll only be 74.
