Down The Drain

Down The Drain is from my Naturally Abstract collection and was composed at the Yonce Farm in Ridge Spring, SC. As I looked down the tube formed by the rolled canna lily leaves, in my mind’s eye, the spiraling effect immediately made me think of a drain. With the very shallow depth of field my experimental macro rig produces, making a determination as to where the focal point should be placed was tricky. To increase my possible opportunities, several compositions were created with varying focal points. I then selected the most aesthetically pleasing winner during my post processing evaluation phase using the much larger computer monitor.
