Do You Always Have Your Camera With You?

Curious if Photographers always have their camera with them or at least nearby? I know some people that never miss a shot because they always have their gear.. I tend to only bring my gear when I am planning to take pictures... My concern for leaving my gear in my Jeep would be how hot it can get parked in the sun. Curious what some of you do.

Hey Bill,

A nice conversation for our Sit and Chat forum! Hopefully people will see this.

As to your question, my gear is almost always with me. My tripods stay in my Jeep full time. Since I live in the city, if I am just running to grocery store I won't bring my camera as there is nothing ever going to be interesting to shoot along that route. But when I go to the beach to run, or most any other thing, I will bring 1 camera, and my small think tank bag that allows me to have 2 extra lenses plus batteries and memory cards.

I don't see where heat would be an issue unless you lived in Phoenix. :)

My tripod lives in my truck, but my gear sets home unless I am on a photo trip. But then so am I. That is I spend 90% of my waking hours in my man cave at the computer. The rest of the time I am shopping or running errands or on an on purpose photo shot.

I am always ready whenever I am out on the road in my RV since that is my traveling photo man-cave and it has it's own internet links/wifi and I usually have all my camera gear/computer. I don't drive it around daily and don't carry a DSLR/tripod around otherwise. That said - at this point our phones have pretty much matched point and shoot cameras so my own thinking is that yes, I am always ready since I almost always have it in my pocket.

A friend told me, the best camera is always the one that you have with you (unfortunately my phone is a 4s HAH)
