I was a little surprised at the name that showed up for this shows up as Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Crazy Ivan') in the National Gardening Association database.

Crazy or not it sure is beautiful Alan. Love the water droplets and the colour.

Thanks Trent - I had some nice overcast light right after the shower passed over and grabbed my camera to take advantage of it. This is one of dozens of varieties of day lilies my next door neighbor has out along the sidewalk.

Nice job having the whole flower sharp with the background soft. Do you have any tips for that? I always end up with just part of the flower being sharp and never like the results.

Thanks Kyle - my dirty trick for an extended DoF with a bloom like this is to shoot from a couple of meters away with my RF100-500mm lens. This one was shot at 1/320s @f/9.0 with a focal length of 186mm.

Thanks Jim - weird name but a beautiful bloom.Crazy Ivan must have been crazy for Daylily's.
That's a super cool looking flower despite a really crazy name.

Thanks Monika - maybe the purple outlines along the leaf edges made someone think of that maneuver when the bloom got named
