Cranes In The Fog

They sure are noisy birds - and that was a lot of them in one place to add to the noise levels. I ended up skipping around a bit on the video as this is quite lengthy but I liked the experience of getting to see what it's like being there in the refuge.

I am currently traveling down to Santa Fe and have some bad reception. But I stopped for a minute and was able to watch the beginning of this and it looks super cool. I will watch it later tonight.

I just watched the video Jim, it sure is cool and boy they are noisy! :)

I am just getting into Timelapses and movie making, so I don't know if there are stats on the best length for video's and timelapses, but I am guessing 3 or 4 minutes would be a good length. It feels like you are repeating, or showing very similar views in the video. So my one suggestion would be to make it shorter. The quality is awesome in this, but it felt too long to me.

What are you shooting this with? Is it just your regular camera on a tripod?

Thanks for the comments Jim. The videos are a bit long, but for a purpose. The intended end user would run them in a loop throughout the day and the average viewer would only look at them for a minute or so. As far as equipment, I’m just using my Sonys or GFX with a motorized programmable tilt/pan head on a slider on the tripod and with a atomos recording monitor. It’s not an elaborate setup but works fine for my purposes.

I have seen those and thought they looked interesting. Maybe in the future I might get one, but for now just playing around with a static position is enough for me. And thanks for explaining about the length of your video's, that makes sense then. :)
