Cormorant and fish.

While wandering the beach near Lanztville B.C. I saw this Double-crested Cormorant swimming and diving. One time it popped up and had a fish in its bill. I think is a Pacific Staghorn Sculpin. It would likely be better as a video but here is a sequence that shows the amazing expanding ability of the birds throat.

Here you can see the bulge in its throat and a strand of blood stained mucous.

Wow - that fish looks like an enormous meal for the cormorant and the bird doesn't even seem fazed by the size of its catch. Neat sequence.
