If you have ever driven through the Columbia River Gorge you have seen the volcanic plug known as Beacon Rock. It's a great example of columnar basalt and in this case very difficult to miss with the top being 848 feet above the Columbia River. The formation is part of a Washington State Park so any aerial images must be taken from a distance as recreational remote control flights are prohibited without a permit that must be secured 6 weeks in advance.
The shot was taken from the Oregon side of the river near McCord Creek using a 166mm lens at an altitude of roughly 350''
C&C always welcome.
