So what we learned on our trip is the south west ports we visited in Alaska are the 2nd largest rain forest in the world with an annual rainfall of (12 to 14 FEET a year) yes, you read that right FEET, meaning it averages 1/2 of rain a day, every day. Only the very lucky ones ever get to see blue skies or the sun. But with that, the vegetation is VERY lush as these pictures illustrate even on a cloudy/rainy day. Did I mention my raincoat was not rain proof. Who would have quested?
I also bought a new camera kit a while back just for this trip only to find out no sun or blue skies for me so I had to make the best of it.

As my processing skills are feeble, as I am more in-tune withy astrophotography, feel free to leave constructive criticism on how I can improve my processing. Especially in overcast situations.

So if you look closely, you will see (upside down trees made into planters) when trees are up rooted due to heavy winds, this guy had the idea to replant them upside down and making flower planters out of them. I thought that was pretty cool

Sounds like a fun trip and you got some great images of the results of all that rainfall. I like the upside down tree planters - interesting idea :)

Its a bit of a shock to hear real numbers for rainfall along the Pacific coastline in the NW and I recall vividly my own reaction when I ran into almost identical numbers for the Olympic Peninsula in the Hoh Rainforest. I almost stopped the car in the middle of the road when I realized there was moss growing in the middle of the roadway as well as dripping down from the trees overhead.

Wow Ed! That's a lot of rain! Wow! People wouldn't need wells up there for water, they just need a barrel up on the roof.

What a great selection of flowers, plants and trees you have here.

Planting trees upside down? How crazy is that!
