Capture experiment

I posted this badly distorted image on lets play a couple week back. The cause was that I had to point upward to include the peak. It was suggested to do a vertical pano to keep the camera level and then crop. I did this yesterday morning.

The sky was clear and the fall color was finished so this is just a technical exercise with regard to getting all the wanted elements into a non distorted image.

I like the point of view for the new version. I liked the light and the leaves in the first one but nothing stays the same for long :)
Right Alan, as I said, simply an exercise at this point. I sometimes hike in here in the winter for a winter shot, and will do the same technique.

What a cool exercise Ben. How did you feel about the difference? Going vertical and then a pano does help to remove the distortion for sure.

Thanks Jim. I was not sure how much I would need, so I went really big. Here is the uncropped pano for comparison. The croped version is still larger than a single raw.
