To be completely honest, this good-looking little dude's name slips my mind. I took some family photos of him and his family for fun last year, but cannot for the life of me recall their names.

Anyhow, C&C welcome (wish I had a bit more torso here - this is uncropped)!

I like the cute serious pose. A couple of things aren't quite working for me.

1st, the very bright area to the left of his face pulls the eye away from the boy.
2nd the composition feels unbalanced, so I would crop.
3rd, the color doesn't seem right. It either needs to have more saturation or the color should be removed.

I have 2 quick work ups. A B&W and then a Color version. The Color version includes some subtle vignetting to darken the background and help the boy stand out more. Oh, and initially I toned down the highlights on the boys face some.

Thanks for the feedback and comments, Jim! What bright area are you referring to? The cheek/ear area that might be running a bit hot, or in the background?

Comp was left unbalanced intentionally to make things less static, but since he's looking at the camera and not into that negative space I'm gonna have to agree with you on this one.

That's strange about the color! Everything looks fine on the few screens I've checked this on and your color rework looks to be oversaturated. Perhaps maybe a meet in the middle scenario?

Now I *do* really like how it looks in B&W!
