Thanks Ben! I'm sure Scott would like a section dedicated to IR stuff.Great first post Beavens, and great IR a forum that needs some love. We have a few IR folks here so one more is really welcome. That's third is spectacular, but I really like the 4th as well, but all are good.
I never really cared for IR but your work sort of grew on me. Keep um coming.
Not built into the forum site, but its fairly easy do do in photoshop before posting, I even have an action for it, but I don't bother here. Maybe I will revisit my action. Thanks Ben! I'm sure Scott would like a section dedicated to IR stuff.
Do you know how to add borders or captions to images in a thread?
Jeff
Thanks for the info, Ben! Sure, I'll send Scott a message. Not built into the forum site, but its fairly easy do do in photoshop before posting, I even have an action for it, but I don't bother here. Maybe I will revisit my action.
I have already invited Scott, maybe if you did too?
I'm glad you like them, Alan! IR is great because beyond giving a unique take on photography it allows you to shoot midday during usually harsh light. Since IR *loves* sunlights as a light source the general principle from what I understand is "the more the better". It's definitely make me much more open to heading out with the wife in the middle of the day vs. always sticking her with the sunrise/sunset times.I don't have a camera body for this (yet) but am always fascinated by the IR that I see. Esp. #3 and #4 with the interesting rendering of the skies/clouds.
Like Ben I add a frame and text in Photoshop via an action I set up before I save the file as a jpeg. I also covert the color profile in the same action to make things easier.
Thanks for the double-welcome, Jim!Hey Jeff,
Well I welcomed you in the Old Truck thread, I didn't realize you had posted this first, so I will welcome you again!
I agree with Ben, I am not a huge IR fan, but photos like these could soon convert me!
I like these all, but #3 and 5 really stand out for me. I like those white looking trees in 3 and how they stand out, and I just like the view in #5... well... as I look more maybe it's #4 I like 2nd best...
Your question about Frames was answered. That's something we will add as we have grown more and can afford a dedicated server as there is some graphic software that would be needed to run on the server but it can't be installed on a shared server as we are using now.
With the text, you can just describe the photo, the Insert that photo, Press Enter a couple of times then type the text to describe the next photo, and then insert that photo, etc...
Thanks Joe! It depends on what you consider expensive.these are excellent, I've been looking into infrared because of this post. It's expensive to get into if you want to do it right. I guess I better start saving for my new Camera so I can convert my 80D !!!![]()
Thanks Monika! I looooooooove how IR takes the greens and turns them into a super poppy white (depending on amount of light). When you combine that with some deep blacks you can really pump out some interesting and contrasty pics. I'm still on the fence as to how much I'm going to employ false color, but as a B&W nut I'm very much enjoying the IR experience!Welcome to Focal World, Jeff! I find #1 interesting as it seems pretty rare that grass is featured in an IR shot (usually trees). I like the movement of the grass combined with the clouds.
I've only played with the Singh-Ray IR filter as I'm not ready to give up my 7D, and carrying around yet another camera body+ lens is just not all that attractive. But I've had fun with it & like the midday opportunities it gives me.
Thanks Ben!! Some time is finally starting to free up so I should be more active both here and over at FM!Hey Jeff, good to see ya back here.
Thanks, Thor! No big secret - the 16-35 f4 is a sharp lens. These are tac sharp ! Whats your secret? Love #3 it just jumps out
Thanks a lot, Craig!Wonderful Collection of Image Jeff, I like each and everyone with their different look and feel.
Take Care,
Craig
