Big lizards

Gila Monsters and Chuckwallas are large lizards found primarily in arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Chuckwallas are similar in size to the much rarer Gila Monsters.

Gila Monster is our only venomous lizard

In our boat, we approached him from the other side of the rock to get a photo showing his tail. He scampered away before I could get focus on his face.

I think the only place I ever saw a gila monster when I was growing up in Phoenix was behind glass in zoos and botanical gardens. Nice set.

Wow Eric! These are cool looking. I have come across Chuckwalla's a few times, but it's been a long time. It was always exciting to see.
