Here are my choices for best of 2023.

#1. This Common Raven was just about to take off and it reminded me of the actor standing on the deck of the Titanic.

#2. Looking for creative shapes in ice fascinates me.

#3. Another ice sculpture.

#4. I finally was able to get a jumping spider to pose for a portrait.

#5. The colours and the proximity to this feeding Bohemian Waxwing was one of my favourite bird shots this year.
05.jpg

#6. Another lucky shot as this Northern Flicker was just taking off.
06.jpg

#7. This photo took me over an hour of waiting to finally get the American Goldfinch and the sunflower in the right place.
07.jpg

#8. While not the greatest picture this one had my heart rate thumping as I finally was able to get to see and photograph this iconic bird, the Whooping Crane.

#9. The sky and the colours were all aligned for this late fall landscape.

Beautiful set Trent. I love the launching raven in the first image and the colors of the waxwing in #5. Wonderful contrasts with the skies and the fall colors in #10.

Such a great command of bird photography here, exceptional and inspiring work. I do relate to your description of #1, and love the result your patience brought you in #7. The ice captures are a reminder to always look up close, and then being a scenic imager first myself I REALLY like what you showed us in #9.
