These are my best astrophotography images for 2022.
As to why and where is mainly decided randomly and more importantly where the target lies in the southern skies (the higher the better to minimize light pollution effects).
Edit: Would like to add that I have just been notified of my second APOD since starting this hobby 3 years ago. I thought the first one was a bit of a fluke but maybe this one proves I haven't been wasting my time
Astronomy Picture of the Day (nasa.gov) The Seagull Nebula
1. My 'Big Daddy' for 2022 which is of the Southern Tadpoles that won APOD for May 6 2022
2. The Lagoon Nebula
3. The Tarantula Nebula
4. The Emission Nebula SH2-13
5. 47 Tucanae Globular Cluster
6. The Fighting Dragons of Ara
7. The Swan Nebula
8. The Seagull Nebula ( this has now been awarded my second APOD for January 19 2023)
9. Orion and the Running Man Nebula
10. The Horsehead and Flame Nebula
