Beaming in from a Distance

Up at Julia Pfeiffer Beach that beam through the keyhole of the rock is really cool, but I also found it was interesting to shoot it from a bit further back and wider to get the whole rock in view. There wasn't a lot of clouds this evening, but then you don't really want much in the way of clouds because if the sun gets blocked as it's low in the sky then there is no beam.

I took several shots from this position, and this was my favorite as I liked the leading edge of the water how it was scalloped.

All comments are welcome,

I like this little formation. Looks highly photogenic and worth return visits.

Also a nice place to hide from the direct sunlight while waiting for a sunset opportunity.

Very nice Jim. I should visit there sometime. You sure do get around for a guy who isn’t retired. :D

This is really nice Jim, it's certainly a view of that formation I have never seen before, and it works really well.

Hey John, I appreciate that! Even when I did work, I had 5 weeks of vacation, so I was able to really stretch it out with lot's of long weekends and my ability to drive 15+ hours straight. :)

I love the comp, and scene. I think a slight cloud cover and a little longer exposure would give it a huge pop!
