Great write up, I am thinking this could go in the articles section, but Jim will probably decide. You could actually put the article in as written rather than as a link.

Hey Tim, that is an excellent article! As I also backpack as you know, I can relate really well to what you wrote and how you laid out your backpack.

This would be perfect in our Article section, though as Ben mentioned it would work best as a full article as opposed to an Article that only contains a link.

How about posting the Article in our Article section, and at the bottom include a link back to your website to drive traffic back there?

Hey Tim, what a fantastic post. It's really cool to see how you've honed your pack down to the essentials and optimized for weight. What's the trowel for?

Not sure what towel you're using but I use a thin microfiber one that is a good space-saver and dries fast.

Good info Tim. I also carry a non-backpacking tripod in my hand while backpacking. Takes a few more pounds off my back and provides a very stable platform on those windy days. If I am on a week long trip I only carry my 16 - 35mm lens because canon lenses are heavy lol. What does your pack weigh without water?

I'll definitely look at getting it into the articles section, but it may take me a bit since I'm in Yosemite today, and will be headed out on another backpacking trip tomorrow.

Amy: the trowel is for digging cat holes for human waste, but I only use it about half the time, and improvise the other half. I keep meaning to get a good microfiber towel.

Dean: My pack is 30-35 pounds without water depending on how much food I'm carrying.
