Atlas, because he is Strong

This is Atlas, so named as in a little area named Goodsprings, there is a herd of Wild Horses. They are part of the Red Rock Herd Management Area which extends from Red Rock to Sandy Valley in Vegas. I am a humane observer & documenter of our wild horses in our Wheeler Pass HMA which is way closer to me. I also volunteer for the Bureau of Land Management with a foster family that cares for orphaned foals from roundups or whatever. In this instance, Atlas was brought in at 3 days old, he is 5 months old now. His mom we think was hit by a Polaris RZR (side by side ATV). We had to feed him every two hours, 24/7 at first, both with bottles & teaching him to drink from buckets with mares milk. He is turning out to be a wonderful little guy.

Thanks, I rarely use this lens but played with it all day today. It is a 40mm prime Nikoor. I was talked into it at photo store because I like macro's but that is when I first got my camera. I took the Halloween contest photo today also with it. I have a really hard time with it for macro though.

Yeah, a 40mm macro would be really bad I would think. Most real macros are 85 or 105mm. For it to be 40mm, you would have to be so close to objects you would have issues with blocking light, the subject wouldn't be that big because it's only 40mm. Yeah... I wouldn't want it for macro work.

Yes, I wish I knew then what I knew now LOL. It is a very close up lens and you can't handhold, if you do you can't breathe & it takes a much higher ISO at that range. But for some things it is nice glass :)

You made the best use of what you had. Like the second shot, any with the ears forward?
