At Long Last

It's been a while since I have seen a colorful sunset from my house with the seemingly endless days of gray skies. I guess the weather pattern that has folks back east shoveling and shivering has resulted in and end to rains for a while in the Pacific NW and left me with a nice photo opportunity yesterday evening. This is two frames at 24mm overlooking Vancouver Lake and the Columbia River.

C&C always welcome.

Glad you like it Alan. We've had nothing but too much of this stuff and zero precipitation this season in southern and central CA. We desperately need rain. Nice image, too!

Thanks Jeffrey - between November and December I have measured over 14" of rain so I have been ready for a bit of a break for a while now. I like shooting sunsets this time of year since the sun angle is so far south I can frame the sunset over the lake.

This morning's sunrise made last night's sunset look bland :)

Hey Alan, that's really nice!

I got some clouds at the beach last night, but here in SoCal it looks like we are going to have a period of clear skies for the next week or so. Now that would be great except for the moon turning to a full moon, so the clear skies would be great for Astro, but not so much with the bright moon.

Thanks Jim - we have had solid gray skies in my area for about a month straight up here until last night. I made sure I had fully charged batteries for this morning after seeing the sunset. I wasn't disappointed. We are supposed to stay mostly dry for a couple of weeks right now so hopefully less mud in my back yard.

Nice combination of clouds, light and the sun close to the horizon. Things haven't been that nice around here unfortunately. While it stopped raining and sun showed up occasionally but no sunrise or sunset worth capturing.

Thanks Jameel - the sunrise that followed this yesterday morning was even better. We were back to gray this morning.

nice sunset. nice view of the little island.
Thanks - the view is pretty good from about 390' AGL over my house. From 300' you can only barely see the water of the Columbia and the surrounding lowlands. Everywhere in the scene that has water used to be marshlands that flanked the river until dikes were built to drain the land.
