Arches Sunset

Here is another image from my archive. Kathleen and I made a trip to Arches NP in May 1978 in a rented camper. When we got there it was snowing and cold. The sky was dark and so was my mood after a long drive! I was sitting the the drivers seat and sipping a little Jack Danials to console upset at the weather. About a 1/2 hour before sunset the the sun dropped below the cloud and put a radient spotlight on the rocks. I grabbed my camera and jumped out the front door and kathleen simultaneously exited the back door with her camera and for 20 minutes we had the most exquisite light. The red rocks looked like glowing briquets against the dark sky. After 20 minutes it was all gone. Kathleen and I kept smiling for hours after the sun was gone and laughing about all our grumbling about mother nature ruining our trip upon arriving at the campground. ;)

Image was made with a Leicaflex SL and the 90 mm Leitz lens on Kodachrome 64 slide film. The slide was scanned and processed in Photoshop.
