First one is a female Anhinga, the second a male and the third a male with a soft shell turtle. That last one is a super heavy crop also.
They are interesting for sure, the eye marking is durring breeding season from what I understand.I like the markings on the male with the turtle in the last image. Not a bird I have seen first hand before. Interesting creature.

Thank you JIMWow Joe! It almost looks like they have fur on their neck! What cool detail. The closeup in #1 is my favorite, but I like the other 2 also, and I like the inclusion of the turtle in #3.
From my understanding it's part of their Breeding Plumage along with the extra feathers on the neck that are a lighter color.is that a turquoise color eye in the male?.... nice.
Thank you Amy, They are a lot of fun to watch also.Marvelous shots. I always thought this was a beautiful bird, but the head just never quite fit the rest of it, at least in my eyes.
