An Evening Under the Stars

I was setup in the Black Rock Campground in Joshua Tree with my Deep Space Astro gear, but still wanted to capture the stars with my DSLR. There was no moon, so I didn't mess with a timelapse, but about midnight I saw my neighbors still had their campfire going and their tent lit up. So I grabbed one of my cameras and pointed it that way and grabbed a few shots. I did bracket, but with the overall night being pretty bright, I was able to use just 1 exposure for this.

Thanks Alan. Yeah, typically most of the campers are lights out an hour after the sunsets. But this couple stayed up till almost 1am. They were pretty quiet, and not really walking around, so not sure what they were doing.

Nicely done, and consider that thier are more stars in the sky. than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on all the earth. Dwell on that for a while.

That is really neat. We tend to focus on the MW most of the time but the starry sky is fascinating.

Thanks Jameel! I have been capturing the night sky for many years now, and I do remember a time when it was just about the stars, no one ever talked about the Milky Way. But times change I guess, and the goal of many now is a night time selfie with the Milky Way.
