This is a nice sharp image to work with. I like the grainy look but I feel like hers had more contrast. Do you have any birds silhouetted against a dark or light background? That might work well with her technique.

Thanks so very much for the compliment Joe, I'm honored. I think your photograph came out great, a different result but great never the less. And I agree with Amy, having more negative space in the shot opposite tone of the subject would let you achieve more contrast.

Looks like very grainy old B&W film. It works well for this bird portrait.
