Alstrom Point sunset

This was taken the night before my recent sunrise post. As you might see, I have Navajo Mountain lined up in gunsight butte, which I am told is the standard way to shoot this. I did it more because I liked the "Canyonland with water" look.

CC appreciated, too much sky?

I'm not overly fond of the 50/50 split with the sky. If the sky had more interest, I might have been ok with it. I'd vote for a pano crop. Wonderful light on the top of the distant buttes though. I love Alstrom Point, one of my favorite places to spend a night camping anywhere.

Hey Ben, the composition is a good one. I like the light and color in this. I agree with Guy that I would crop off a lot of the sky. I can see why you had kept it, because there are some clouds in the upper right with color on them. But in the scheme of the whole composition there just isn’t enough clouds to balance out all of that blue sky.

So I vote for a pano crop. :)

Nice view and I like the colors. I kinds like your clouds but maybe you could crop down to the top of the colored clouds which would alleviate the 50/50 split and make it more like 1/3 sky to 2/3 land.

Nice shot, but I'd crop out the clouds altogether - while nice they distract and draw the eye from the main event which is the water and nice light on the distant mountain.
