Abbott Church Geminids Meteor Shower

This was taken out at Abbott Church in Lindon Colorado on Sunday night. It was a very warm 6 degrees during the night, so it was a lot of battery changing going on. The skies were mostly clear to start but some scattered clouds would roll in and cover the skies at times. Peak was supposed to be from 2am to 4am, but there were lots of meteors all night long.

I had trouble creating a timelapse in Photoshop, some kind of operator malfunction on my part it seems. I finally was able to figure out a different way to create the timelapse in Photoshop, and then I pulled the video into Movavi to add the music and titles.

Looks nice from my warm seat in front of my monitor. Fun sequence but I will take your word for it on an all nighter in single digits. How many batteries did you go through?

It wasn't an all nighter as the clouds finally socked in totally at 2:30am or so but considering sunset was at 4:30 it was a lot of hours in the cold. But basically Alisa and I sat in my Jeep with the heater running after we got the cameras set up, and then every 20 to 30 mins we would go back out and make the rounds of the cameras (I had 3 cameras shooting) and checking the batteries. I think we were getting 1.5 hours or so per battery. I had a dual charger going in the jeep and so we kept charging the ones that were dead as we replaced them. It was like an assembly line. :)

Thanks Alan.

Cool Meteor Shower, but the music isn't what I would have expected. And yes burrrr 🥶
Thank you Amy! :)

Yeah, the music is always fun to try and pick out for the video's. In this case since there was so many airplane trails going through the sky I wanted something with a bit faster pace to match the intensity and speed of those trails. So that song was a consensus pick between me and my 10 Year old grandson and 4 year old granddaughter. :)

Fun video - definitely makes the case for the massive amount of airplanes going through there. Lovely exposure and colors. I tried for some from my driveway the night of the 13th, and came up empty, but it wasn't super late and I only put about 15 minutes of 30 second frames into the effort. Thought it was going to be good, since I saw 2 setting up, but those were the last 2 I saw :)

Hey John, thanks so much! I really appreciate how much you enjoyed it. I am guessing I need to start doing these more often.
