In the Elkmont area of the Smoky Mountains there are cabins left over from before the Park was formed. Left in place for all these years (who knows why), they have become derelict and the Park Service is now removing them. In fact, this cabin is now gone. Old houses, cabins, have a certain fascination as we observe the emptiness and wonder about all the life events that passed through here.

Hey Mike, structures like this are very fascinating. It's too bad they didn't maintain more of these for historical purposes.

Thanks! As a matter of fact the Park Service did keep and renovate a number of these cabins for tours and a couple of the larger structures that you can rent for events... Mike

Mike!!! My man!!! My wife and I were around the Smokys a few years back and heard about Elkmont. We pulled up and I hopped out to check out the first couple of houses. Then I had to see what's next. Then next, and next! My wife got worried after a while and had to come looking for me because I was like a fat kid in a candy shop.:D I have many fond memories of exploring this neighborhood and many creepy vibes.

Very nice photo all-around - both in comp and processing.

Jeff, so glad to hear you found and enjoyed Elkmont and the Smokies. We live about 6 hours away but consider them our favorite place to visit and get up there about four times a year. Thanks... Mike
