A simple scene I came across recently. This would make a nice fall color image but I liked how the snow removed some of the peripheral elements. Eastern Sierra, Ca. Feb., 2024.
Thanks, Jameel. I will look that up and post it here. I imagine many people would like that version a little better, btw.Nice winter scene. Do you have the b/w conversion without the split tone? Would love to see that.
Thanks again, Jim. You're right in the fall they just aren't isolated enough. Here, it's more isolated but I had those shadows in there that made for a challenge when I processed it. This split tone works "ok" for me but I still think it needs a different feel to come across properly. This would be really great in fall, but unless you had the right conditions those trees wouldn't be isolated like you have here. Good eye Kurt.

Interesting.... Thanks for the feedbag on this one, David. This is very thougth provoking, the trees by themselves, Im imagining the searing cold winds and snow blindness, the sounds of a wolf breathing near your ear and the joy of shutting the cabin door behind you and making a fire
Thanks again, Oliver. I had a really good combination of conditions that day for doing something like this.....As I get older, I like this kind of images more every day.
Love the muted tone.
