A slow down for me

Hey Ben,

How is your recovery coming? It looks like your left handed typing skills are improving! :)

Any update on when you will be able to go shoot again?

Hi Jim, thinks for asking. I am sneaking my arm out of the sling to type, the recovery is going fine I think, I have my first post op next Tuesday and will find out then. But all indications are that it is a 6 month full recover and 6 weeks in a sling. I can't drive with a sling so that hampers my photography.

This is a dead season for me anyway unless I drive a long way. I suspect I will not be back into it until March or April.

Had my first post op meeting yesterday. I found out that the bicep tendon was so shot they just permanently disconnected it. The Doc said it was not a big deal as other muscle groups fill in. He said this was a common procedure. I had 4 more weeks in a sling, but can have limited use of the arm. He said about a year to full recovery.

Oh wow. The body is sure amazing! I would have thought on the surface that if a tendon was disconnected, that it would be a major issue. But it sounds great how the other muscles can fill in and help out.

Thanks for the update Ben, it's great to hear about the progression.

Same here, Ben. I just saw this. I'm sure you'll do well and will be out there soon. It's very important to stay with the recovery therapy and routines, yet don't overdo it too soon.

Best of luck.

Just an update here for my friends. I got the sling off Monday and am cleared to drive. The shoulder feels at least as good as before the operation so I am hopeful. 6 weeks of physical therapy starting Monday, so no out of town stuff for a while.

This is not a productive time of year for me anyway, so I sent my camera in for cleaning. I should be out and about in February and thinking about where I could go in March.
