A Second Evening in Brookings

I have spent a lot of time out along the Oregon coastline in the winter trying to position myself just to the edge of winter storms to score some nice clouds and lighting. Enough to know that it can sometimes take days of rainy windy weather to get one good sunset/sunrise so bring along a good library to keep yourself entertained between opportunities to shoot. I am very used to the notion of living on weather web pages trying to figure out where to go next to see if I can score. The notion of hanging out in one place getting great sky shows night after night is almost unheard of in the winter.

In this case the mold got broken and I scored two nights in a row with a chance for even more yet. I have a campsite directly above the beach that can't be reserved so I have already paid up for two more nights.

This is early in the sunset so colors aren't yet fully into the reds/magentas but rest assured there will be some coming since I stayed out on the beach until I need my flashlight to find the path back up the cliffs.

C&C always welcome.

That's definitely some nice light .I'm looking forward to seeing the full burn. The flow of water works well to lead the eye toward the sun. I would like to see something with more weight in the foreground, but this is really pretty.

As the sunset went on I reframed the camera to get more sky and sacrificed some of the water trails for more of the cloud color show. I scouted out the water trails about 20 minutes before color show time (I checked the times from last nights session) so I could have a different arena tonight.

The water trails actually shift daily since this is the super moon extra low tide. This was under 10' of water at the super moon high tide this morning.

I discovered some inconsistencies in the color balance of the original for this scene and am posting a new version that has been corrected for color temp/tint. This is much closer to the colors I saw while I was shooting.
